“I have been delighted with the work Phil and the team have completed for me.
I recommend you discuss your requirements with Phil because skilled tradesmen with a the investment in specialist
plant and machinery as Wellington Joinery and Kitchens have is hard to find.”
“Phil and the team at Wellington Joinery and Kitchens were recommended to me by my brother who completed his building apprenticeship in Johnsonville some time ago.
The work I required to be completed was specialist in nature for a number of reasons. We were using heart rimu being which was very expensive and required a skilled tradesmen to minimise both mistakes and wastage. The other key thing I was looking for was a joinery shop that had the capability to complete all the work. The tooling, machines and skills of Phil and his team could not be matched in my opinion by any other shop in Wellington.
Phil and his team manufactured made to measure windows, internal and external doors to match existing original doors from the colonial period, French doors, colonial architrave and skirtings. Phil took great care to match specialist fretwork and window trimmings which enabled our
builders to finish the job to a very high standard and in keeping with the original house. Phil planned and managed the work in line with the project requirements, he worked in with the other trades and delivered the items to site which is an important consideration when manufacturing larger doors and windows.”
“Phil and his team have worked with me on a number of very successful projects over the past 10 years.
They work closely with their clients and the designers to combine carefully selected materials, traditional and modern skills and techniques to produce one-off joinery items from their Johnsonville workshop. Their work lasts for a long time due to the care they take in the making of their joinery. Good examples of this are the work they have done on our 1887 Victorian cottage, starting with our kitchen 10 years ago, it looks brand new and has stood up to the wear and tear of family live, while still looking current in its design.
Last year we did a big chunk of work adding a new wing, rebuilding the south wall and adding a verandah.
Wellington Joinery and Kitchens made the new Victorian style double glazed timber windows, a modern box window, built a new glazed surround for an old kauri door, built shelving and ledges for a new dark oak gallery space, matai drawers and shelves for a shower room, and a large unit of wardrobes for our new bedroom.
This year they replaced more of the Victorian windows with new double glazed timber units in the same style keeping the old tradition of the double hung type window and combining it with current double glazing techniques. (Photos of this can be seen on my website – www.judikeithbrownarchitect.com).
We are hugely proud of this work and my husband’s mother, thought that all of those windows had always been there since they sit so well in our lovely old house!
The work produced by Phil and the Wellington Joinery and Kitchens team is of a very high quality, fitting into the more boutique end of the market, each piece locally made and sourced, each piece custom-made, each piece unique to the clients and their project.”
“The results are attracting fabulous responses from those who visit; my expectations have been exceeded and Phil and his team have integral to the success of the entire project. Their dedication has been very much appreciated and I have enjoyed having them in my home.
Embarking on an extensive renovation to my 1924 Island Bay Californian bungalow was a significant challenge; finding the right people to
implement my plans was pivotal to a successful outcome. And then came along came the crew from Wellington Joinery and Kitchens.
There were bi-folds to fit between a sun-room and a pergola, a revamp of a walk-in pantry, cabinets and stainless steel features for a kitchen and the conversion of the original wash-house to a second bathroom/laundry and a separate study.
As we progressed, they humoured me further by creating a display case from a pair of shoji screens (used for the ‘doors’) in which exotic pieces collected on travels could be featured in the sun-room and even revamped the door on my garden shed to accommodate a decorative panel. None of my smaller requests were refused – all were greeted with an enthusiastic response and the finished articles duly presented to me.
Such is the versatility of the team at Wellington Joinery and Kitchens all my plans (and the additional snazzy ideas) have come to fruition.
It was been my pleasure to cook them lunch in my fabulous new kitchen.”
“Phil and the team at Wellington Joinery and Kitchens were fantastic to deal with. They worked with us to produce a top-quality kitchen and new double glazed window and door joinery, all of which had to fit into the character of our renovated villa.
Their experience and attention to detail shone through. Phil and his team were always focused on providing the best possible outcome for us,
because as Phil said “You have to live with it for years, so it needs to be just right.” Nothing was ever too difficult, from the big picture to the finest detail.
I would recommend Wellington Joinery and Kitchens to everyone!”
“After a recommendation from our builder, Phil and his team have undertaken a number of projects for us including windows, a stable door and cabinets.
The most recent project is a full wall entertainment cabinet. Phil’s experience was invaluable in helping guide us with the design. His attention to detail is top notch. The end result has exceeded our expectations. We look forward to working with Phil on our future projects.”
